Human-Centered Technology Working Group
Conversations about equity, inclusion (of you!), and ethics in technology.
Our goal is to encourage ongoing conversations around how we choose to use technology in our personal lives, businesses, and other areas of life. How can we make decisions about AI that help build stronger and deeper human connections, instead of creating more isolation? How can we change the way we use technology to create a better community for everyone, rather than perpetuating the current societal failures? How can we act from a place of agency and empowerment in navigating technology?
“The value of persons does not depend on what they achieve or produce. There are rights that apply to everyone simply by virtue of being human, and no human power can legitimately deny or arbitrarily limit them.”
Human-Centered. We're interested in cultivating spaces where people are valued for being humans — not for their productivity or usefulness as a means.
Technology. While AI is on the forefront of most conversations, we want to consider all forms of technology and the implications for us as humans.
Working Group. This is for people who want to figure out how to work with technology in a responsible way. We're in the arena together doing the work, not just talking about it.
This is a weekly online meetup based in the Tri-Cities TN community. See the Luma calendar above for the upcoming schedule.
Some weeks are open discussions while others might be more of an informational format. The specific theme and details for each week can be found by clicking on the event in the calendar above. If you choose to RSVP to the event in Luma, you can also add it to your calendar and get email/text reminders if you find that helpful. It is not required/expected that everyone attends each week — you're welcome to drop in as it fits in your schedule. We may also occasionally plan in-person meetups, so keep an eye out for that!
